Say "I Do" to the Perfect Wedding Deal

There is a lot of chatter about pre-marital “rules,” but what about the things a bride should and shouldn’t do on the big day? It’s bound to be a day that flies by so make the best of it by keeping these six bits of advice in mind.

Don’t Get Drunk Pre-Ceremony
Did you know in some states your marriage can be deemed null if you’ve had more than two drinks? Even if this doesn’t apply to your wedding locale, you don’t want to be intoxicated during your ceremony. It’s OK to have one or two drinks to calm your nerves, but save any more for celebrating after you say “I Do!”

Do Spend Alone Time with the Hubs
Between friends, family and questions from event staff, it’s easy to get swept up in the chaos of the day. You’ll be in high demand and everyone will want your attention, so don’t forget to carve out some alone time with your new hubby. A few stolen moments amidst the chaos are memories you will treasure.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
You’ve likely heard this one before, but it bears repeating. Don’t sweat the small stuff on your wedding day! If your cake frosting starts to melt or your aunt gets a little too tipsy, don’t let it ruin your day. Those things aren’t nearly as important as the fact that this is the day you’ll be marrying the love of your life. Don’t let the little things cloud how special this truly is.

Do Let the Wedding Planner Take Over
It can be hard to trust someone with something as special as your wedding day, but if there’s anyone you can and should trust, it’s your wedding planner. Whether it’s a last-minute change of plans or fielding questions from vendors, your coordinator can and should handle this so you can enjoy the day, stress-free.

Don’t Skip Dinner
Yes, you should try and greet and thank all of your guests for attending, but don’t get so caught up in socializing that you end up skipping dinner. Chances are you’ll probably have little to eat all day so take the time to sit down, relax and enjoy the dinner you’ve been planning for the past months.

Do Enjoy the Wedding Night
It’s shocking the number of couples that are so tired at the end of the night, they fall fast asleep! You may have the rest of your lives together for some good “alone” time, but you will only have one wedding night. Plan ahead, put some energy drinks in the fridge and dash away from your reception early if you need to so you can enjoy a much-deserved and romantic wedding night!
