We all want to look our best on the big day, but not all of us have the luxury of time to hit the gym for months and wait for results. When you’re in a planning rush, it’s hard to be patient. But, don’t fret — where there’s a workout, there’s a way.
 
Your primary concern should be crafting an effective, fun routine that leaves you glowing in half the time. To help, we consulted Erica Pritzker, a certified fitness instructor for her top five tips.
 
Work the Weights!
Contrary to popular belief, strength training can burn as many calories as aerobic exercise. In fact, according to a recent study from the University of Southern Maine, 30 minutes of weight training burns as many calories as running five consecutive 6-minute miles. Five six-minute miles! Not to mention, weight training tones and boosts your metabolism.
 
Pro Tip: For the best results, weight train three days a week. Remember, rest at least one day in between sessions.

Mix It Up
Looking to get fit fast? Look no further than interval training. Interval training — alternating bursts of high-intensity activity with intervals of low-intensity exercise — yields stunning results in half the time. Why? The fat-burning power of high-intensity intervals is sustained throughout low intensity intervals, meaning you’ll burn more calories faster. And interval training boosts your metabolism, increasing the number of calories you burn after working out.

Pro Tip: Do interval training 2-3 days a week.
 
Heartbeats
For a svelte-yet-feminine physique, it’s all about increasing your heart rate. Aerobic exercises and cardio training are considered extremely effective ways to burn calories and melt fat reserves. And by burning calories long after your workout has ended, cardio is the workout that keeps on giving.
 
Pro Tips: Unlike other routines, cardio can be fun! Consider shaking your way to a new you. Or, if you prefer, try out kick boxing. As long as it raises your heart rate, it’s game. Plus, if you chose an activity you enjoy, you’re more likely to stick to it.
 
Go Easy
Believe it or not, rest and recovery are an important part of your workout regimen.  Why? When you exercise, your body breaks down muscle fibers. As the fibers heal, they come back stronger; reshaping your body. The Catch 22: This healing process only occurs during recovery. So, if you don’t rest, your workouts might not prove as effective as you would like.
 
Pro Tips: Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Allow 24 hours between workouts, and give yourself at least one day off per week.
